What you can do

02 / EVERYDAY USES

When this tool is useful

Work toward a 100 KB or 200 KB upload limit

Choose JPG or WebP, reduce quality and download to check the reported size. If the file is still too large, lower its dimensions. This is a manual workflow rather than an exact-size target.

Make photos easier to email

Large camera images often contain more pixels than a recipient needs on screen. Reduce dimensions first, then choose a quality level that keeps faces and important details clear.

Prepare lighter website images

Export at a suitable display size and compare the result with your original. A compact image is useful only if text, edges and other important details remain readable.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about files, output and what this tool can do.

Can I compress to an exact size such as 100 KB?

The tool does not target an exact byte size automatically. Lower quality or dimensions, download, and use the reported size to refine the result.

Why is the compressed image larger?

Some source images are already well optimized. Re-encoding them at a higher quality or changing formats can increase size. Try lower quality or smaller dimensions.

Can I compress a PNG without a white background?

Choose WebP to use adjustable quality while retaining transparency. PNG also retains transparency but does not have a lossy quality setting in this tool.

Does image compression change the pixel dimensions?

Only if you change the width, height or percentage controls in Resize. Adjusting quality alone keeps the current output dimensions.
