02 / EVERYDAY USES

When this tool is useful

Reduce a large scanned document

A scan saved at a very high resolution may be larger than needed for screen reading. Re-render its pages at a lower resolution and compare the downloaded file size with the original.

Prepare a PDF for an upload form

Choose the required pages and start with moderate quality. If the result still exceeds the form’s limit, reduce resolution or quality further while checking that important text remains readable.

Make an image-heavy reference copy

Use a flattened copy for visual review when interactive features are unnecessary. Preserve the original document if you need to search, fill forms or follow embedded links later.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about files, output and what this tool can do.

Will text still be searchable?

No. Pages are flattened into images. Do not use this method when searchable text, forms or accessibility tags must be preserved.

Is a smaller PDF guaranteed?

No. Scanned PDFs often benefit, but optimized or mostly text-based PDFs can get larger. The result message tells you when no size reduction occurred.

Can I compress a PDF to exactly 1 MB?

There is no automatic target-size setting. Adjust resolution and quality, download and check the reported result. Some documents cannot meet a small limit while remaining readable.

Does this PDF compressor preserve links and forms?

No. It rebuilds the selected pages as images. Links, interactive forms, selectable text and accessibility tags are not preserved.
